In what comes as good news for the travellers, the commercial services of the newly launched Vande Bharat Sleeper train are to begin from 22 and 23 January.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off India’s first Vande Bharat sleeper trains on 17 January from Malda. The trains that are to be operated in Guwahati (Kamakhya) and Howrah, are to cover a distance of 972 kilometres. The trains to be operated and maintained mainly by the North Frontier Railway have been numbered as 27575 and 27576. According to a notification, the train 27576 from Kamakhya to Howrah is to run on its first commercial journey on 22 January, while 27575 between Howrah and Kamakhya is to be operated commercially from 23 January.

The Kamakhya to Howrah train is to kick off its maiden commercial journey first. As learnt, the revenue services of Kamakhya and Howrah Vande Bharatiya sleeper is to begin its commercial duties from 22 January. The commercial run of the Howrah and Kamakhya are to kick off from 23 January.

As learnt, services of the newly launched Vande Bharat Sleeper are to be operated on six days a week, except on Wednesday while those running from Howrah to Kamakhya would also be operated daily except Thursday. The primary maintenance of the rakes is to be done at Kamakhya.

According to the Eastern Railway, the train 27576 Kamakhya – Howrah Vande Bharat Sleeper Express will leave Kamakhya at 6.15 p.m. to reach Howrah at 8.15 a.m. on the next day while the 27575 Howrah – Kamakhya Vande Bharat Sleeper Express will leave Howrah at 6.20 p.m. to reach Kamakhya at 8.20 a.m. on the next day. The train will stop at Bandel, Nabadwip Dham, Katwa, Azimganj, New Farakka, Malda Town, Aluabari Road, New Jalpaiguri, Jalpaiguri Road, New Coochbehar, New Alipurduar, New Bongaigaon and Rangiya stations en route in both directions. The train will have air-conditioned accommodation.

As learnt, ticket booking of 27575 Howrah-Kamakhya Vande Bharat Sleeper Express would be available from 20 January through PRS and internet.
